when childlessness is not a choice

Ann Davidman and I have worked with ambivalence: the not knowing if. What if the choice isn't yours. There are women who know but then find the choice isn't theirs, through infertility, life-circumstance or another event that robs them of the path they thought they would take in life. The pain of this is something that needs to be faced (it takes courage) and it deserves healing. It can cry out to be shared. A grief shared is a grief humanized. And every story matters. Thankf

    New Year....Refocusing

As the first month of this new year draws to a close, I'm remembering and forgetting. Something that happens all the time, but I'm bringing more awareness and focus to it. When I remember I feel better even when I'm sad, angry, confused or overwhelmed. The remembering gives me the opportunity to be aware. To show up and meet my experience. Build or repair the net/web that surrounds you. Look at

    Self-Care ~ a Necessity

A short but sweet post to remind us all that self-care is a necessity, not a luxury. Being busy is the norm in life. Think of self-care as the pearls you string together to keep yourself together. Self-care can be a dedicated cup of tea (without catching up on social media), a quiet few minutes of meditation, reading a poem, enjoying a laugh alone or with a friend, nurturing a potted plant (hands in dirt is very therapeutic), closing eyes for a cat-nap, etc., etc. Endless dis

    Taking Time

We recently received feedback from a customer in a review of our book, Motherhood - Is It For Me? Your Step-by-Step Guide to Clarity, that it takes time that the prospective reader didn't have. This really pushed me into the philosophical sphere of considering time and its nature, a very large sphere indeed. I have empathy for this woman. She could be feeling internal pressure to decide right away. She may have very real reasons why taking 12 weeks to decide if being a mother
